Oscar fever - What next?

First I must congratulate Music-gician A.R.Rahman for bringing India Two Oscars and Resul pookutty for adding one more. Undoubtedly both of them deserve such worldwide recognitions. It is in fact a yearning for many of the Indian film artistes on and off the screen. Finally the world had to admit the virtuosos of Indian talents. Congratulations once again.

Now it is history. Our names have been inscribed on Oscar's sheets. Let me recall the hype created by the media before the colourful event and the ceremonial performances on every other streets of India. The Yagnas, Poojas, Prayers of people, Blessings and Special wishes from political leaders for the movie 'Slumdog millionaire' to win Oscar. The most disturbing thing was the special poojas performed by the Slum dwellers of Mumbai. Their prayers have been answered at last. They are all very happy right now. Their wretchednesses have been beautifully picturised and shown across the world. The excellent work of the technicians has been rewarded at the world's renowned stage. Our shameless politicians are queing up to congratulate the oscar winners. They are in fact the most deserving candidates for the award, because they have helped the slum dwellers to continue their living inside slums even after 6o years of independence. Well done.
I strongly feel the real award would be to see the elimination of slums and wiping the tears of the slum dwellers and beggers. That would bring more cheers to their life and bigger smiles on the face of these poor people.
