The Garden Fire

Image
Sundays sometimes make you lazy. You would like to do many things but endup doing nothing. The whole day would be passed without doing anything worthfully. But, ofcourse, trivial works such as cleaning your wardrobe, small repair jobs like, tightening the screws of your cycle seat, lubricating the scooter, door hinges etc. would be carried out without much fuss. I just looked out at the garden. It was untidy. Lot of trashes ( the once ornamental stuff of trees, now fallen leaves) covered the garden area. I decided to clean it and succeeded. After an hour of sweating, I dumped all the garbage and set fire on it. What a beautiful view!. I glanced, then stared at the flame. It was blazing. I felt a sense of pride in my mind. "Ah, How brilliant is the fire that I have set". I just sat down and looked it until all the garbage is burnt. My thoughts turned inside. Just setting fire to the material waste had given me so much satisfaction. We have dumped so much of trash in our mind in

The Harder I Work, The more I Live

"The Joy of Life" This is the true joy of life. The being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one. The being a force of nature instead of a feverish and selfish clod of ailments and grieving senses complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and that as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die. For the harder I work, the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got to hold up for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations. -George Bernard Shaw

Gurukshethram - A Daily routine

Image
Morning alarm rang. My fingers moved swiftly to stop the alarm clock ringing and succeeded. I understood that it was 6 O'clock. I just pulled my bed sheet and covered myself thoroughly so that, the little light that pierced into the bed room could not wake me up. I realised that my daily war started inside my gurukshethram. Isn't it true to everyone of us. My pandavaas, (very few) that is, my intelligence, ambition, emotion, faith and ofcourse mind, who joins kouravaas many a time, lined up against the mighty kouravaas,(Many) my body, pain, fatigue, the warmth, laziness, silence, and the list is endless. As usual the Krishna sits inside and smiles, he doesn't say anything, just smiles and smiles. He is not perturbed by the actions of pandavaas and kouravaas. It is for the pandavaas to fight it out. At last they did. I woke up from the bed and started doing my routine of moving in to the next gurukshethram.

Socrates Test Nice to read

The Socrates Triple Filter Test: In ancient Greece, Socrates was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem. One day an acquaintance met the great philosopher and said, "Do you know what I just heard about your friend?" ”Hold on a minute," Socrates replied. "Before telling me anything, I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Triple Filter Test." ”Triple filter?" ”That's right," Socrates continued. "Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you're going to say. That's why I call it the triple filter test.” ”The first filter is TRUTH . Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?" ”No," the man said, "actually I just heard about it and..." ’All right," said Socrates. "So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now let's try the second filter, the filter of GOODNESS . Is what you ar
