Fact and Emotion

Twelfth standard results have been released today. Now its time for some of the parents to feel happy and for many of the parents to feel sad and angry. The chase is on to findout their children and start throwing stones at them, until the parents get tired. I understand the apathy that follow after seeing the marks scored by their wards. Days are gone when parents and students run to collect next days newspaper with lot of anxiety to see the result that would have been printed in smallest of a small font. Children convince their parents by saying "There are lot of printing errors, Let us wait for the actual result from school" for their number not being printed on. They buy some cushioning time before being punished. But it is totally different now. Todays Mobile and internet era have given no such cushion for the ambitious children. Over an SMS parents get the marks in full detail and get ready for beating. This sickness continues and continues. What is the problem?.......
The parents are not sparing time with their children to assess their true potential. They want their children to be master of everything. By developing such a high expection from them without knowing their true potential, the parents paste a certain definition on their children. This results in uncertainity in their minds. When the facts are known, the parents fail to hide their emotion and vent it out over their children. Parents must undertand something about A Fact and An Emotion. When you happen to see an unknown person (say an old man) being hit and run by a speeding car, you sympathise the person and try to help him. But when you see a notorious gangster being hit and run by the same speeding car, will you sympathise and help him? Definitely not. Here the Fact is 'A person being hit and run'. You attach a certain kind of emotion to each case and act upon. Now think, What kind of emotion do you attach to your children. Try to find out the problem with the child and help him out. After all, all the five fingers are not the same. They have different dimensions and purpose. Find out and act.
