ஞாயிற்று கிழமை, நம்மை சோம்பேறியாக்கும் நாள். ஆனால் இன்று ஜவஹர் பள்ளியில் குழந்தைகளுக்காக 'ஒப்புவித்தல் போட்டி' நடக்க இருந்ததால், காலையிலேயே ரொம்ப 'பிசி' ஆகிப்போனேன். குழந்தைகளுக்குத்தானே போட்டி என்று கேட்காதீர்கள், என் பிள்ளையாண்டான் போட்டியில் கலந்து கொள்கிறான் என்றால், போட்டி என்னுடையது ஆகி விடுகிறது இல்லையா? (பெற்றோர்கள் தானாக ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும் தேவையற்ற பொறுப்பு) தானும் பறந்து கொண்டு குழந்தையையும் பர,பறக்க செய்யும் வேலை. ஆனால் என் விஷயத்தில் அந்த அளவுக்கு போவதில்லை. அவனாக ஆசைப்பட்டு சேர்ந்தால் ஒழிய அவனை வற்புறுத்தியது இல்லை. சரி. என்ன போட்டி? அசாமில் ஏற்படும் திடீர் வெள்ளம் பற்றி, டாக்டர் M.S. சாமிநாதன் ஆற்றிய உரையை ஒப்புவித்தல். சரி. நல்ல விஷயம் தானே. அழகாக மனனம் செய்த பெருமை பிள்ளையையும், குரல் மற்றும் உடல் மொழி (body language) பயிற்சி என்னையும் சேரும். வெள்ளத்தின் சேதம் எப்படி இருக்கும் என்பதை அவனுக்கு உணர்த்தி ஒப்புவிக்க சொன்னேன். பத்து மணிக்கு போட்டி ஆரம்பித்ததும், அறைக்கதவை அடைத்து விட்டதால் வெளியில் மைதானத்தை நோக்கியபடி திண்ணையில் அமர்ந்தேன். என்னைப்போலவே பலரு...

One day, a wealthy family man took his son on a trip to a village, so that he could have his son see how poor people live. They stayed one day and one night in the home of a very humble farmer. At the end of the trip, when they were back home, the father asked his son, "What did you think of the trip?"
