Reality Bites - My belief is only mine

Recently I had an opportunity to participate in an international seminar on biodiversity at Mysore. The main objective of the 3 day seminar was to discuss urgent measures to be embraced to save our mother nature. Eminent personalites from various part of our country & abroad and research scholars had attended the seminar, presented papers and posters on different topics in which
mine was one among 90 contributions. The entire function was thought provoking and a grand treat to intellect. Inaugural function was attended by persons of highest position. Shri. Madhavan nair (former chairman, ISRO), Shri. Binoy viswam (Hon'ble Minister for housing & forests, Kerala) Padmashree.M.Mahadevappa to name a few and others in similar position have attended the function and many of them stayed till the valedictory function.

I knew that many politicians possess the knack of addressing public gathering on political matters with eloquence and ease. But very rarely I came across politicians who are so eloquent and informative when addressing a gathering of this nature as the one from Kerala. Shri. Binoy viswam was the one I am referring to. My opinion about politicians in general shattered for good on the very first day. He spoke in such a manner that one would get inspired to take the position. Such is his knowledge about this particular field and his command over the language, Wow!

A similar jolt to my poor intellect came on the valedictory day when the Director General of Police Smt. JIJA MADHAVAN HARISINGH, an IPS officer of Bangalore city delivered a natural speech on her understanding about biodiversity. She was highly knowledgable and philosophical when she spoke about the connectivity that exists between human beings and nature. She added humour sense to her speech. I must say that my understanding about police officers in general were slidden down by this woman, rather a scientific-police officer. All in the conference room were awestruck when she revealed that she had taught English language to the Hon'ble minister Shri Binoy viswam in school as teacher.

Every where is a school and every where is learning. Sometimes the lessons are very harsh that can tear apart our false understandings, for better.
